RAPID CITY, S.D. — A big send off for Rapid City’s YMCA Executive Director and CEO after 45 years of service.
An open house was held Thursday to wish Roger Gallimore and his wife Eileen luck in the next chapter of their lives. Roger completing a long career with the Y, taking on roles such as youth outreach director then four years as senior program director before taking on the position of executive director at the Rapid City Y in 1992.
With all those years of experience behind him, Roger has these parting words for his successor.
“Surround yourself with the best of the best. You know it’s really not about one person but one person who is able to bring together the finest of volunteers and staff, donors, partners, it really does take a whole community,” Gallimore said.
Roger Gallimore’s last day will be Friday after 45 years with the Rapid City YMCA. In honor of Roger and his wife Eileen an endowment fund was created in their name by the Y to benefit Rapid City youth. The goal of the fund is to provide scholarships and change the lives of children in the Rapid City community forever.
