Senior living community with all vaccinated staff to open in Fort Wayne | #seniorliving | #elderly | #seniors

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21)- A new senior living community will open in the Summit City Monday and officials promise a comfortable living space with many activities to enjoy.

“Really the environment of love and care that we’re going to be able to provide for the residents is really going to be something that sets us apart in this brand new community,” Director of Sales, Bethany Clapper said.

Cedarhurst Senior Living has thousands of communities across 9 states and is opening up here in Fort Wayne. Opening up a new business in the middle of a pandemic can come with it’s challenges, but folks with Cedarhurst say they’re prepared.

“Cedarhurst has thought of everything right down to the masks and how many masks you’re wearing and how long do you quarantine and how do visitations work? It’s going to be amazing to see the different levels of care and safety that are going to be provided each and every day,” Clapper said.

Clapper says all employees in the community are fully vaccinated and they highly recommend all residents who stay there to be vaccinated too. She says they’ve received a lot of questions about safety from clients and they do their best to put them at ease.

“No matter what making this transition into a Senior Living Community is a very difficult decision and we want families and our perspective residents to know that we understand that and we’re here for you to be a guide,” Clapper said.

With some seniors avoiding going out during the pandemic, Clapper hopes amenities like patio spaces and a movie theater will help keep them entertained.

“We want the residents to feel like they’re in a safe, fun, secure environment so not only we will be able to help them now with their current needs but we’ll have nursing and activities and many other options to help them long into their future needs for care,” Clapper said.

Clapper says they’re excited to welcome the Fort Wayne community with open arms.

“It’s like when Tin Caps opened, everyone was so excited for something new and the City of Fort Wayne has fallen in love with them and we’re gonna be hopefully the next thing the City of Fort Wayne falls in love with,” Clapper said.

She also told ABC21 about two programs the community offers its residents. One of them is “Pair to Prepare” that allows a loved one to stay with a resident the first few days they move in. There’s also offer a complete refund if you decide to move out after 60 days of staying there.
