The Central Coast Section baseball playoffs get underway Saturday, with Palma, Soledad and Stevenson being the top seeds in their respective divisions.
In Division IV, Palma (10-7-1) hosts No. 8 Soquel (9-7) at 1 p.m.
In Division V, Soledad (8-8-1) hosts No. 8 Gilroy (2-7) at 4:30 p.m.; No. 3 Pacific Grove (5-12) hosts No. 6 Oak Grove (11-13) of San Jose at 1 p.m.; No. 7 Monterey (9-14) visits No. 2 Sobrato (14-6) of Morgan Hill at 1 p.m.
In Division VI, Stevenson (9-7) hosts No. 8 Design Tech (6-4) of Redwood City and No. 5 King City (6-7) visits No. 4 Thomas More (14-7) of San Jose at James Lick High in San Jose. Both games are at 1 p.m.
In Division III, No. 3 Carmel (19-7) hosts No. 6 Burlingame (15-9) at 1 p.m.
North County finished a magical playoff run, beating Piedmont Hills of San Jose 11-3 to win the Division IV title. North County had finished the abbreviated regular season 1-7.
Notre Dame (17-3) lost in the Open Division finals 6-0 to undefeated St. Francis of Mountain View, while Stevenson (12-7) fell in the Division III semifinals to Woodside, 6-0.
Sydney Craven of Stevenson was the top Monterey County finisher at the CCS girls golf championship at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, shooting a 78 to finish seventh. York’s Jara Gomez shot an 84 to finish 19th. Carmel finished sixth as a team, shooting 621.
