Newly vaccinated booking vacations in Central Florida | #vacation | #seniors | #elderly

People over 65 are booking vacations, starting to travel, and many are showing up in Central Florida. There’s increasing evidence that vaccinations are freeing up plenty of seniors who have the time and money to travel. Terry Hubbard of Indianapolis feels like her shackles have been removed. “I finally got my vaccine and I’m good to go,” Hubbard said.In Cocoa Beach on Friday, there was plenty of evidence of what many in the travel industry are calling a new wave of vacationers over 65: Those who’ve been vaccinated. Mick and Karin Bowers are from Iowa. “I can’t tell you how relieved. I’m 72 and was pretty nervous for close to a year. It was really nice to finally get it,” Mick Bowers said. “We waited and celebrated with going to a restaurant.” A survey by a travel website says 82% of respondents over 56 are ready to vacation in 2021, and 80% of them are waiting until they get their shots. “I got the shots up there before I came down, so I feel good. We’re senior citizens on spring break, or something like that,” New Hampshire resident Jack Endyke said.Many of those getting vaccinated are retired and have the time and money to travel. Some local businesses say they’re starting to see an increase in customers and are hoping the newly liberated will generate a wave of black ink for their bottom lines.
