New assisted living home to be built at Brewster Parke | #seniorliving | #elderly | #seniors
BREWSTER A new 32-bed assisted living facility is coming to the senior living community of Brewster Parke.
Officials broke ground this week on the new facility at 360 Wabash Ave. N.
Amelia Pennell, event coordinator at Brewster Parke, said the center wanted to add larger assisted-living rooms to its campus.
“We definitely want to expand and also wanted to build something a little larger than traditional rooms in assisted living,” she said.
The 16 units in the new facility can accommodate two beds and will be geared toward couples.
The facility will be private-pay for those needing additional help, she said.
The rooms are handicap accessible and include a shower and a kitchenette.
Crews from RBS General Contracting, of Tuscarawas Township, are expected to start construction of the $1.3 million building on Monday. They hope to wrap up construction by the end of the year, Pennell said.
The new assisted living facility will become part of the campus that includes Henry Inn, Dolley Madison House, Jefferson Lodge, Franklin Hall as well as apartments offering a range of care that includes independent living, catered living, assisted living, and skilled rehabilitation services.
Pennell said about 200 people reside on the campus tucked behind the main road in the village on more than 50 acres of land surrounded by woods.
“We have a nature trail on the property and are surrounded by woods,” she said. “We have a little deer that comes and visits. It’s pretty unique in its own way.”
David Childs owns the Brewster facility as well as Bel Air Care Center in Alliance.
