Marcia Miller | Obituary | New Castle News | #healthcare | #elderly | #seniors

Marcia Ann Miller left this earth suddenly on March 29, 2021, leaving a large gap in many lives.
Marcia was born in New Castle to Catherine Doreen and Lawrence Miller. Both predeceased her.
She was the apple of her father’s eye, and even as a small child, she knew she wanted to be a nurse.
She started that career journey as a teenage “candy-striper” at St. Francis Hospital in New Castle.
She graduated from Mohawk Area Junior-Senior High School in 1973, and headed right to a nearby community college to get her LPN. Years later, she earned her RN and continued her devotion to nursing and the care of others.
Her family went to her often for medical advice. “My bill will be in the mail,” she’d say, but we never saw one.
She worked many years in the ICU of Greenville Hospital, Greenville. Later, she moved to home care administration. At the time of her death, she was employed at United Health Care.
To support her sister, Marcia relocated from Pennsylvania to help take care of their elderly mother. Her caring, medical knowledge and relationships with the home care community made everything easier for everyone.
She leaves behind her son, Joshua (Cristi) Hodge of Sanford, North Carolina; her sister, Laurie and brother-in-law and true sparring sibling, Scott Patterson, of Hudson; and her nephews, Hadley (Cassie) Miller of Hudson (parents of her great-nieces, whom she adored), Jered Patterson Stowell of Stow, Ohio, and Galen Miller-Atkins of LaGrande, Oregon.
Marcia had a great sense of humor, and she truly loved the time she had with these nephews. She could stand up to their teasing and give it right back! Holidays had hilarity because of her.
Private family gathering will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made in Marcia’s name to REHAB Ministries (
Her family would like to thank the kind and empathetic people in the Heart and Vascular Center of Cleveland Clinic Akron General.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson-Romito Funeral Home.
