Budgets, bills and assistant superintendent retirement on USD 253 Emporia board’s agenda | #retirement | #elderly | #seniors
Budgetary matters will be the lead focus for the USD 253 Board of Education with its meeting Wednesday night.
The board will get an overall budget update as the district continues its work on the fiscal 2022 document. It will also consider an agreement authorizing the Kansas Association of School Boards and the law firm of Smithyman and Zakoura to represent the district in all matters related to natural gas pricing after brutally cold temperatures hit the state in February.
The board could also buy two new buses from Kansas Truck Equipment and declare three current buses as surplus.
Separately, the district will get a COVID-19 response update. Education redesign proposals from Riverside and Timmerman elementary schools will be discussed. In the consent agenda, the board may approve the proposed retirement of Kelly Bolin, who has served as the district’s assistant superintendent of human resources since June 2017.
The board meeting is at 7 pm at Mary Herbert and will be available for public viewing on the district’s website www.usd253.org.
