A Baltimore County independent living community found a way to have some fun this year, despite the coronavirus pandemic, by turning its residents into movie stars.

Residents at Brightwood Living, an independent senior living community in Lutherville, created a calendar to raise funds for the Maryland Food Bank — and it started as a way to lift everyone’s spirits.

“Well, you know, I just was thinking about something we could do during the pandemic, and I see all of our residents as stars, and it just kind of came together,” said Mary Bauer, director of marketing and sales at Brightwood.

The photoshoots were done throughout the year and movies were matched with personalities.

“(For) ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ Miss Jean Warehime was a naturally ranked skeet shooter, so it made sense,” Bauer said.

Bill Kitchel gets a kick out of seeing his neighbors in the calendar. At 83, it was the “Easy Rider’s” first time on a motorcycle.

When asked whether the thought, at his age, he would be in a calendar, Kitchel said with a laugh, “No, not at any age.”
